Big mug
This large mug is made using an iron-rich stoneware clay: the iron within the clay creates random speckles giving the mug texture and visual interest. The glaze used here is a wood ash glaze I make using the ash from our log burner. The resultant colour varies every time I make a new batch but is generally, as here, a soft, subtle green colour. The mug has a sturdy handle, making it comfortable to grip, and its generous size makes it perfect for enjoying a hearty cup of tea or coffee.
